# [BETA] Global Vendor Payouts by Stripe

This article provides essential information about the Global Payouts feature. Global Vendor Payouts enables you to send payments to your vendors quickly and securely via Bank Transfer, like ACH or FPS.

|| **Requirement: Merchants should have a US or UK Stripe account only. Support for more countries will be provided on a rolling basis. Vendors can be from any country.**

### How to activate Global Payouts on Stripe

1. Create a new Stripe Account. [Click Here To Signup For A Stripe Account](https://dashboard.stripe.com/connect). Log in if you have an existing Stripe account.

Before activating Global Payouts, please ensure that you are **NOT** in **Test mode**. 

2. Navigate to **Settings** on Stripe (#1).
3. Navigate to **Global Payouts** to activate permissions (#2).
4. Customise the vendor's intake form with your business name, colour, and icon. Go to the [business brand settings page](https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/branding).

3. Under Recipient commission permissions, select **Allow Stripe to email recipients for you (#1)** and under the Payout methods, activate the **Standard option (#2)**. The standard option is a free top-up method which typically arrives in 2-3 days from your bank account. The funds here are used to pay your vendors.
4. Navigate to **Manage (#3)** in the screenshot below where you can connect your bank account to Stripe where funds for payouts will be drawn/debitted from. Add atleast 1 Bank account in USD or GBP.

### How to top up your account balance to make a vendor payout

1. Navigate to **Global Payouts**
2. Click on the **Add money** button

3. Complete the transfer details, review and then confirm the transfer. This typically take 2-3 business days but can take upto a maximum of 7 days. Plan ahead.


### How to activate Global Payouts in PuppetVendors

1. Log into your Stripe account to get the Stripe Secret Key.
2. Navigate to **Developers** > **API keys**.

3. Create a Stripe Restricted Key

|| The live key must be in this format and start with sk_live like so - rk**_live_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.**

4. Select: Providing this key to a third-party application

5. Enter **PuppetVendors **for the name and [https://puppetvendors.com](https://puppetvendors.com) for the URL and click **Continue**.

6. Select **Write** permissions for the following **Resource Type**: **Core**, **Connect**, **Money Management**, **Webhooks**

6. Verify your identify and then copy the key that starts with **rk_live_*** **for use in PuppetVendors.


### Insert the Restricted API Key in PuppetVendors

1. Navigate to **Settings** (#1) -> **Payouts** (#2) and click on the **Stripe** tab (#3).
2. Paste the copied **Stripe Restricted Key** into the **input box (#5)**.
3. Check the **Global Payouts** checkbox and click on the save button (#4).
4. Click on the Save button followed by the **Test** button to confirm that Stripe has been setup correctly. 
5. Set-up is completed successfully if the test results shows a success message.

##### How do vendors connect their bank accounts

Vendors can connect their bank accounts by logging into their vendor portal and then

1. Vendor logs into the vendor portal
2. Navigates to **Profile**
3. Scroll down to the **Payouts** section
4. Selects **Global Payouts** and clicks on the **Connect Bank Account**
5. Click the **Save** button

##### Payout Fees

* Vendors cover the payout fees by default. For a $100 USD payout, vendors receive $98 after the $2 cost. 
* Splitting rules are coming soon, so merchants can choose to absorb fees instead.

| Send money (UK) | Payouts with local bank transfers - upto 2 business days | UK: 1.5 GBP per payout |




##### Troubleshooting Stripe Payouts

1. **Branding Error**

This error is common when testing your Stripe connection. This simply means that you haven't completed your brand settings in your Stripe account. Go to the [Business brand settings page](https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/branding) in the dashboard to include your business name, colour, and icon.



2. **Insufficient funds**

**How to resolve?**

You can top-up your Stripe balance to be able to make a payout of the pending amount. Go to [top-up your Stripe balance](https://help.puppetvendors.com/en/article/how-to-add-funds-to-your-stripe-balance-for-payouts-b94kaj/) and then [retry the failed payout](https://help.puppetvendors.com/en/article/retry-a-failed-payout-18ttzun/).
Make sure that you stop automatic transfers from Stripe to your bank account as well following the guide below.

**How to Manage or Stop Automatic Transfers:**
* **Change Schedule:** Navigate to **Settings**  **Bank accounts and scheduling** to change automatic payouts from daily to weekly/monthly.
* **Switch to Manual:** In the same settings area, select **Manual** to only transfer funds when you click "Pay out". 
* **Update Bank Account:** Ensure your bank account is connected and verified in the **Settings** area to avoid payout failures.
