How to Activate and Use PuppetVendors Custom Sale Shopify POS Widget

This article describes how you can activate and use the PuppetVendors Custom Sale Shopify POS Widget.


Shopify's default Custom Sale assigns items to "N/A vendor" in PuppetVendors, requiring manual reassignment later. The PuppetVendors Custom Sale widget lets you assign the correct vendor at checkout — no portal, no laptop, no extra steps.

Requirements

  1. PuppetVendors installed on your Shopify store
  2. Shopify POS app (any plan — POS Pro not required)
  3. Works on iPad, iPhone, and Android


How to activate PuppetVendors Custom Sale Widget on Shopify POS


  1. In your Shopify POS home screen, tap on Add tile.
  2. Tap on Apps, then tap PuppetVendors
  3. Tap on the Add button to the right of the app row

Install Shopify POS PuppetVendors Custom Sale Tile


  1. You will then see a PuppetVendors Custom Sale tile on your home screen.

PuppetVendors Custom Sale Widget with Vendor Selector

  1. The custom sale creation process works exactly the same as it does with Shopify's default Custom Sale widget with the exception that the app's custom one comes with a vendor selector. Commissions set for each vendor are set directly within PuppetVendors. You also have the ability to create a new one on the fly.


How to use the Widget to create a custom sale with vendor attribution

  1. Tap the PuppetVendors Custom Sale tile on your POS home screen
  2. Enter item details: Item name (e.g., "Vintage Denim Jacket"), Price, Quantity (default: 1), Taxable (toggle on/off)
  3. Tap Select Vendor
  4. Search or scroll to find the vendor
  5. Tap the vendor name to select
  6. Tap Add to Cart
  7. When the item appears in your cart with the vendor assigned. Complete checkout as normal.

How to add PuppetVendors Widget via the Shopify Admin Point of Sale Settings

  1. Navigate to Point Of Sale -> Settings -> POS app (Smart grid and lock screen)

  1. Expand the Smart grid items on the left hand side where it says Page 1
  2. Click on the Add tile link
  3. Select Embedded Apps and PuppetVendors



  1. Click on PuppetVendors Custom Sale

  1. Click on the Save button



FAQ


Q: Do I need Shopify POS Pro?

  • No. Works with any Shopify POS plan.


Q: What if I pick the wrong vendor?

  • Before checkout: remove from cart, re-add with correct vendor. After checkout: edit in PuppetVendors (Sales → click line item → edit vendor).


Q: Can I still use Shopify's default Custom Sale?

  • Yes. Both tiles can coexist.



Troubleshooting


Widget not appearing?

  • Update your Shopify POS app, or try removing and re-adding the tile.
  • Add the widget via the Shopify Admin


"Failed to fetch vendors" error?
